This is a typical series of six picture postcards like so many others with scenes from popular fairy tales. Otto Kubel did a tremendous job, again, so it's probably best to dive in without further ado.
Just like the story by the Brothers Grimm, the real action begins with the arrival of the evil queen, Snow White's stepmother. She is a beautiful woman, yet pretty insecure. She is checking her look all the time and the mirror tells her the truth.
It's a magic mirror that can talk, by the way. And yes, the evil queen is a witch with some limited but still crucial knowledge about different stuff.
The talking mirror always assures her that she is the most beautiful until one day ...
... she is not the most beautiful anymore. Her stepdaughter Snow White is prettier!
So the evil queen decided it was time to do something about the situation. She orders the hunter who was employed at the castle to take the girl into the woods and kill her. He needs to bring back proof of his success - Snow White's heart.
The hunter feels sorry for Snow White. He is in a dilemma. His job depends on fulfilling orders. If he disobeys the queen, his family will be in danger.
On the other hand, he doesn't want to kill an innocent child.
So he decides to leave her in the woods and kills a hind on the way home to show her heart instead of the girls' to the queen.
Anyway, he was pretty sure the kid would not survive in the woods for too long. The forest is a dangerous place.
But Snow White was lucky. After a while, she found a house in the woods. It was empty but somebody definitely lived there. There was food, drink, and beds. She explores the house, eats something and finally falls asleep.
Imagine how surprised were the owners of the house where Snow White found the sanctuary.
Imagine how surprised was she when she woke up and saw seven dwarfs staring at her.
It didn't take long to make a simple plan. Snow White will stay with dwarfs and help them at the household while they work at the mine. She should be safe from the wicked stepmother.
And for some time she was.
But the evil queen still had a magic mirror and she still wanted to know who was the most beautiful woman around.
That's how she found out that Snow White is still alive, still prettier than her stepmother, and that she is located in the house in the forest.
So the evil queen decided to kill the girl by herself. She changes into an old woman who offers all kinds of stuff to folk and this is how she tricks the Snow White to try a corset - and falls down due to being too tight.
Yet the dwarfs saved her.
For the second time, Snow White takes a poisonous comb. She falls again.
Again, dwarfs saved her.
For the third time, Snow White ate the inglorious poisonous apple (red part, of course).
This time dwarfs couldn't do a thing.
They just put her into a glass coffin to keep her around for some time.
Snow White lay in her coffin, prettier than ever, when a prince came by. He instantly liked her and wanted to take the coffin with the body to his castle.
Dwarf hesitated but later agreed.
When the coffin was moved, part of an apple, stuck in Snow White's throat, fell out.
She woke up!
This, of course, leads to a happy ending with marriage and so on, except for one thing.
The evil queen was still alive and dangerous.
So the happy couple invited her to the prince's castle, where she was offered a pair of iron shoes, nicely warmed up in fire.
She was forced to dance in these shoes until she dropped dead.
